Mike Pegg Commenting on MENS TOP 16 & Top 8 - Format

Yesterday I received a few emails about the format for the Mens Top 16 and Top 8. To answer these questions and dispel the rumours, here is ow it will be done.

The format is Barrage.

The teams will be randomly seeded into poules (groups of 4 teams) 1 - 4

R1. A v B, C v D
R2 Winner v Winner, Loser v Loser (2 wins to next poule)
R3 (barrage round) 1 win v 1 win (2 wins to next poule)

After these games those that lost 2 games (3rd and 4th place) will not be able to progress into the top 8, they may wish to stay and watch the remaining 8 or perhaps go home.

We are very aware that some teams will play just 2 or at best 3 games and the day is over for them, but at this stage of the International Qualifier it is all about winning.

The remaining 8 teams will form 2 poules, 5 and 6.
POULE 5
Winner Poule 1
2nd Poule 3
Winner Poule 4
2nd Poule 2

POULE 6
Winner Poule 2
2nd Poule 4
Winner Poule 3
2nd Poule 1

The results of these Poules will be used to seed or rank the teams for the Top 8...... [ Read the rest of this story ]
